Swallows, Canaries, & Doves

1. It's raining major life events all in my calendar. Weddings, births, & funerals are literally popping up every week, more so than usual. Not only am I alive & well, apparently so are my social networks.

2. In the same manner that one person can't be the scapegoat for all that goes wrong, nor can one person be the explanation of all that goes right. Grant it, the latter is more attractive than the former, it's crucial to maintain the proper perspective.

3. Knowing when to ask why but electing not to do so is wisdom. Hopefully I'll receive the answer to my inquiry without formally making one.

4. It's always easier to walk away. In some instances, it's actually the action to take with respects to self preservation. However, when life & limb are not compromised, it is often a favor to your character for you to remain. More so for the others involved than for yourself.

5. The older I get, the less I appreciation I have for cynicism, especially in the land of privilege that is the United States of America. Those attitudes are birthed often by a strong concern for the individual, often at the expense of others. Tis a mismanagement of food, air, & water to behave a in such a manner.

6. Since words are the essence of their definitions be aware that what you speak has power far beyond your realm of perception.

7. Tyler Perry is to be commended for addressing an audience he believed was neglected. He is know charged with furthering the understanding, perspective, & development of said audience. I hope that he accepts and acts on that reality sooner than latter.

8. For whatever reason, the tax dollars generated in my parish (county) have funded the development of my mayor's global perspective first hand. The man has been to Cuba, S. Africa, China (2x) & a host of other cities within the past four years. The least he could do is show the good people of New Orleans the photos and bring back souverniers for the city, some public art pieces, a theatrical tour, shit something.

9. Concerts sell out in this city constantly while small bookstores fight to remain open yet wonderment exists as to why our children fail standardized test @ an alarming rate...New Orleans, the spring of my discontent

10. There's a problem when school gets in the way of learning, much like the problem that exists when work interfere with life.

11. The tragedy in the murder of that little girl not only lies in the manner in which her final days unfolded, but also in the manner in which her mother's life played out for almost 30 yrs. Had her warning cries been heard, the headlines would read differently.

12. I'm not sure what prompted Europe to decide that they needed a president, we've been working on that model here in the States for 200 + yrs and there still appears to be some issues regarding efficiency.

13. I love fresh baked bread. Artisan breads to be specific, the ones that are made by hand, shaped irregularly, & have slight burn spots on the bottom. in case you were wondering
