Cheese Eggs, OJ, & Yellow Grits

1. Once you begin to develop a feminist understanding, especially as a man of color, it becomes very difficult to view things outside of that context. More often than not, the lens of scrutiny causes the most discomfort when you place your familial reality underneath it .

2. It's amazing the shit you'll accept when you think a dream has come to fruition, even if the dream isn't actualized in it's entirety. What kind of dream doesn't come true completely? It's unfortunate that fear & emotional issues prevented the possibilities from being explored completely, off paper, in the five dimensional world.

2a. Fuck niggas, bitches too, all I trust is my pride & this'll do.

3. The quickest way to compromise contentment is to introduce the situation to inquiry.

4. What's the score with the false friends?? It shouldn't be that much of a chore to maintain a vested interest in the person you declare your friend. It shouldn't take an act of congress for your emotional concern to manifest itself. If you lack a close connection with the whole range of your emotions, you should deny yourself friends until you get that sorted out.

5. As for Don't ask, Don't tell: Who you spend your free time with & how that time is spent is of no concern to me. I really don't care who you're sleeping with, just do your damn job beyond your best abilities. If your willing to die for this democracy, then step right on up & do just that. This rampant homophobia is ridiculous, truth be told, who you elect to have as an intimate partner is none of my business as long as they are a consenting adult (as defined by the state laws where the interaction initiates & occurs)

6. Be good at it! <<<understand that as best your mind allows

7. I've never understood the emotional bonds people develop with professional athletic teams. It's a completely one side experience in my opinion, with the spectator having the greatest investment. How does one become soo vested in an exchange governed by dictates of distance? Even if you buy seats on the field, the players don't know you unless you're there every game in the same seats. It's like falling in love with an animal at the zoo, no matter how strongly you feel, those emotions will never transcend that protective space.

8. Accept no shorts, produce no counterfeits, & selectly reply to inquiries. (#nyresolution)

9. I'm no medium but I'm relatively confident in my understanding of the cyclical realities of life. If I forecast something regarding your future, don't take it as gospel. Just consider that my understanding, on this issue, may transcend your own exponentially.

10. I find nothing more annoying than to listen to white men complain. More oft then not, they exists in a very privileged reality, void of consistency interruptions padded with a degree of normalcy that others regard as luxurious living. Respect the real struggle, Chuck & shut the fuck up.

11. You don't listen to hip-hop/rap music to develop a philosophy on life. You listen to apply to apply traditional thought to a context radically different from the one in which those ideas are formed. These sub-genres of music have yet to produce any theories or critical methods that withstand academic scrutiny, they do provide a context for understanding what occurs when a myriad of theories intersect each other. The discussion always comes from deciphering the conflict.

12. Instead of worrying about who that _____ fucking, go & get you some money (Wiz Khalifa) Easily the most substantive phrase I've ever heard cross his lips. Remember even a broken clock is right at two times in the day.

13. 808s & Heartbreaks was such a critically under appreciated album. It's riddled with raw emotion embedded in what the unaquainted ear (mind) understands as rambling.

14. I want to sit with a doppio, a chess set and kill the day with an old friend. I suppose we'll have to age a bit further to devote our time to battles void of a resource to acquire control over.

15. Always travel the street parallel to the main thoroughfare. It's there for that very reason.

16. It's never the memories I seek to destroy, for they are proof that I wasn't hatched in a laboratory. It's the recall sequences attached to some of those memories I'd love to obliterate. For without that sequence, the memories float around my subconscious life space station debris through the galaxy.

17. When your boss breaks out the good whiskey after work, park your heels. Sit & sip a bit for this moment is destined to not repeat itself.

18. Tis a shame most of this post will go unread, let alone under-discussed. Ah well, my writing is cathartic at times & such writing has no need for a captive, engaged, or concerned audience.

Read the whole thing. Dug it. Naturally, I found the bit concerning whiskey struck me with the most poignancy.

For me, 808s & Hearbreaks was null amid all its raw emotional honesty thanks to good old auto tune. Once I heard that "wah wah wah" my ears turned off.

Adieu, good Boyd. Adieu.

You are the most interesting person I ever met... the only other person I ever found as interesting is Andy Warhol... But I never met him, I met you... and you are the most interesting person I ever met. I would love to keep your thoughts in my purse and read them every Sunday morning.
I thought 808 and Heartbreak was raw emotion as well, and a great work of art.. It was all my fears rapped up in 1 album and the auto tune reminded me of "reading rainbow" ... when I was more pure at heart.. 1 more thing. Fake Friends are friends too. Just with less expectations but they serve some purpose.

Anonymous, I must say that I am indeed flattered. My travels contain narratives of their own but I would love to know where our paths crossed. I trust the blog will suffice for your Sunday morning reads, for now at least
