Shorts all day & all night!
1. I've a sixth sense that I'm reaching minute 10 of 15 re: my charm in a new exchange. Lets hope my knowledge aggregation skills keep me relevant. I don't doubt that they will but I'm humble enough to hope.
2. I still don't understand the pricing logic for men's clothes. Yes, the large portion of men shop infrequently because they collectively find the task laborious and rife with an abundance of options that need not be made available. That accounted for, updating a wardrobe, in a very minimalist manner shouldn't easily near one to the $600 range. Not only is that absurd, it's not even the great pieces, just the "basics".
3. I went to one of my preferred watering holes last night for an engagement. In the event the party joining me had been lackluster, I might have been inclined to never return there again. The service was the worse it's ever been. I'm no "Mr. Consumer" who voices every gripe ever birthed from a less than desirable commercial transaction but the more I recall the night, the more inclined I am to make a call and voice my disappointment. Then again, who's really disappointed at a bar because are you not their for the inebriation and the conversation it gives birth to during you visit?
4. I'm going to revert to making only good decisions even though the bad ones birth better stories. They also tend to depend heavily on the presence of at least one supporting and enthusiastic member.
5. Theres a slight potential that I may be a contributing writer to a new blog in the near future. I'll keep the collective posted on those developments.
6. I'm awaiting the proof copy of my upcoming book Bowties & Socks. I'll announce when the final version has clear the press and will be ready for purchase. There may even be a launch party.
7. These service industry off days suck horribly. Middle of the week, I'm available to do whatever, when nothing is going on but Friday-Sun is my Mon-Wed. I feel like I'm missing out on a lot and it needs to end sooner than later. Alright I'm done. I'm grateful for consistent employment, I'm just not a fan of quality of life sacrifices.
8. Since the city I grew up in and the city I currently live are geographically the same but economically and culturally different, I'm going to use local restaurant reviews to relearn the landscape bka "be a tourist in my hometown". I'll (re)visit local attractions but the restaurant experiences will be more accessible given my schedule. No proper itinerary, I'm just going to make a list and check items off one by one.
9. I don't understand the American experience to have arrived at understanding that is post-racial, or beyond moral judgement assessments based primarily on a person assumed ethnic background and the stereotypes associated with it. The whole black president thing has really gone over to well and he's been in office for two years.
What I will go on the record and say is this: There are plethora of cultural difference between any two people in a given space that allows for immigration, whether it be sanctioned by a governing body or not. The important thing is to place those unique identifiers in perspective relative to the exchange in which they are observed/experienced and to base the bulk of your assessment on that which you have observed first hand. In doing this, it remains of the utmost importance to not give way to emotional influences. Emotions are valid and to be respected but their less than stable nature prevents them from being factored into logically sound evaluations of anyone who is not an intimate member of your life.
10. I've been charged with watching The Wire in it's entirety asap. I've no idea how I'll make that happen but since I've managed to avoid conversations about the show for this long, I suppose I can oblige this request
