All lion, no lamb

1.  Thus far, it has been my experience that one should be mindful which request you mutter into the ears of the universe. Your request will be fulfilled, but the means may make the end a bitter finish.

2. There was a time when Mardi Gras was a local celebration of culture &; Catholicism. I believe those days ended in the late 90s, as the 2-Way Pager rose in popularity. Each year, I encounter more and more people here for the party because they heard it was a really cool party, like one the better parties available in the Continental US. I'm no religious adherent, nor am I culture messier looking to only share the nimblest bit with every traveler be he drag queen or lawyer but a degree of sacracity needs to be returned to this holiday. I don't care for large crowds roaming the streets, so I tend to experience the season from the fringes. This year however, I decided to do things differently. I immersed myself in the celebration with my extended family in tow. It was a great time for me, a time of refreshing my cultural & personal memories.

3. I've an idea that needs further developing. I won't elaborate much more than that.

4. The problem is not always walking away but rather staying away. I once thought that saying an admission of defeat, experience has taught me otherwise.

5. A new Pope has been elected, a bishop from Argentina. I've no vested interest in who runs that empire from its seat in Rome, I just find it odd that Chavez dies from cancer last week, the Olympics are set for Brazil for next year & now a pope is selected from South America. It's all a bit odd to me.

6. There's something telling in the quote from Tarantino's Django Unchained  "They ain't never seen a nigga on a horse." I'd venture to argue it was a commentary on Obama's presidency, particularly his fluctuating popularity. I would venture to argue, however it is of little consequence. The legacy of his tenure in office will be his decisions on public policy & his application of the nation's resources. I find that legacy far more offensive than the ire of a simpleton who believes niggers ever existed, let alone rode horses.

7. Louisiana voters recently placed gun ownership in the sacred space of equal access rights & freedom of speech. That's right, you can speak as you wish and own the firearm of your choice with complete state constitutional protection. It will be interesting to see who gets afford the most protection under the law once freedom of speech, stand your ground & these new gun ownership laws intersect.

8. There is much more to the Gaelic people's history than green #5 in Miller light & genetic anomalies of the dominant 3 leaf clover in its 4 leaf manifestation. I'm not sure anyone actually carries to look down that rabbit hole as they're too busy pissing down it in a drunken stupor.
