Editor's Note: We've hit  200! ! Thanks again for stopping by and send your friends on over! 1 . There are times when I reflect on the people whom I hold near and dear as they embark on the seemingly wonderful road that is a relationship. Not the casual, I'm juggling 3 or 4 people road but the "Umm, yeah, I'm not going to be able to kick it with you this weekend, I've got spend some quality time with the significant other" & I get a little jealous, no lies and then  one of these calls takes place.... W: Yo, whats going on? B: Man, I'm pissed. She done lost her mind! W : (laughing quite loudly) Whats good? What happened like that?! B: Man it's a long story (sigh)!! Jealousy annihilated, I can do without telling those stories right now. 2.  I'd love to tell you the reason for my arrival but I have yet to fully rest from my journey... 3.  Black History Month is upon us. Although I'm not big of the lets wait until February to learn so...

It’s been sometime now and I’m not sure that the words will appear in the order I’d prefer them. It’s a combination of excessive text messaging and looking for a clear sense of how I feel and being met with  London ’s best fog. Only a London Fog on my shoulders to direct me through clouds that were too rebelious to remain in the heavens. Dubois spoke of the dual consciousness that African Americans have as they maneuver through American culture, first seeing themselves as a person of color with a host of limitations, assumptions, and hindrances to be calculated before they could acknowledge their humanity. It was (is) their burden to constantly examine themselves to make sure that their ethnicity doesn’t cause them to behave in a manner that would merit their humanity being denied. I can’t say that I’ve ever experienced that struggle in its most intense form. Growing up in the generation after the Civil Rights movement, I have no personal understanding of the struggles that were my gre...

You can't get your club & your kid on at the same time

I like to keep the rants & raves to a minimum but you'll just have to bear with me on this one Yesterday I was reminded that a woman I've known for sometime has a young child. While this is neither a shock nor is it something I turn my nose down at, I was (am) quite upset to hear that her young child lives over an hour away from her with her mother and for the most part does not exisit in her life. Her presence on the local night scene is so common that one can even forecast the nature of the crowd in attendance merely by knowing whether or not she was in attendance. Whats even more upsetting is that her so-called friends don't chastise her for abandoning her child!! I understand that the offspring curve ball often catches people off guard (as though they didn't believe they could become pregant) but your learning curve for child rearing lessens the more active you are as a parent. Dropping your child off with your parents as you attempt to reclaim your youth by con...
