Norman Rocks Well

It's Thanksgiving Day in the Good ol' US of A. There are a lot people who regard this holiday with a special brand of contempt as it is viewed as a celebration of the removal of the Americans from this land to make room for those who could no longer declare Europe as home for a variety of reasons, mostly because of the rampant religious persecution that was Rome's way of attempting to regain power & control of the churches they were so very much on the verge of losing.

I will readily acknowledge that the Westward expansion of the country, the introduction of foreign disease(s), the establishment of a colonial economy, & the tensions that are inherent in the collision of literate and oral cultures have all been glossed over in a romantic recollection of the pilgrims first years in America. Mainly of noble little Europeans in homely brown clothes & noble savages bka American Indians. The fact remains that the very systems/agencies that soo many of us find to be ridden with incompetence, inefficiency, & everything but compassion are here because of those early battles/conflicts. The historical perspective acknowledged, if the history of the nation soo deeply offends you, depart. Gather your material possessions & earnestly seek another to call home.

As you seek, keep in mind that the history of humanity is bloodshed, deception, exploitation, political unrest & strife, and oppression; wherever you search, you will find these elements in the country's history, for some much more recent than others. All the best in your search. I will however challenge you to acknowledge the limitations of humanity and leave your utopian notions to works of fiction, instead dealing with those you encounter on an individual basis.

Everyday should be a day of giving thanks, a continuous time of expressing gratitude to the divine for all which you have available to you, to the people who are in your life, for the blessings you've been given. Not what you're "lucky" to have as luck isn't real. Don't give thanks in comparison to those who have less than you (whatever that means), be grateful for what you have, unattached to anyone else's situation

Much thanks for all 5 of you who read this blog. It appreciate you allowing me to squat on the precious land of your conscience.

Yours in Truly
W
