It's all in your best interest to comply with the police in any interaction. I'm sure Prof. Gates has heard enough Driving while Black stories to know better. I'm not encouraging a blind to police brutality & the abuse of power that often comes with a badge but you don't threaten an officer with paper work that won't be filed until the next day as he stands in a position of power over you that night. As my mother would say " Pick your battles wisely, son."
2. How can I fault you when I've done the same thing?
3. I'm way too excited about this trip & I haven't even firmed up the details & bought the ticket yet. There's a child like joy I've immediately associated with this entire endeavor, although I've no qualms with declaring my membership in the card carrying world of grown man-dom, it's a sweet thing to look at life in such a pure manner.
4. I remember when my life was a much cheaper experience & there are days that I miss that. I usually come across some photos from that time & instantly become thankful that chapter is done.
5. All it takes is 20 mins of reading something more academically stimulating than Details magazine to realize I need to save my IQ from reaching body temperature.
6. There nights when I lay in bed awake, asking myself what I have done today to deserve a full night's rest. More times than not, I've come to the conclusion that I have no laurels to rest on but I do have 2 eyes that refuse to stay open any longer.
7. I have patience for children only, because they don't know any more than they've been exposed to, but these adults, F! 'em. Mercy but no patience for them - Rhone on dealing with life's challenges & people who make it plural. Easily the quote of the week.
8. I really want to go to this concert tonight not because I'm some huge fan of Stephen Marley rather because I was looking forward to the company. I suppose an opportunity will present itself again in the future as I spend the evening doing work.
9. I've come to conclusion that I will always be on the lookout for fresh kicks. My collection will probably grow exponentially as I age & my kids will be inclined to borrow them.
10. I'm more comfortable around extremist (far right or far left) than I am around moderates, even though I'm a moderate myself. There's something about the absence of ambiguity that I find most agreeable.
11. The phrase Southern Gentleman couldn't be more an insult when it's considered from a historically perspective. That being said, I find it most difficult to keep a straight face whenever I hear the term used.
12. I've been looking at the issue of homelessness here New Orleans this summer as a result of project I'm working on. It's beyond enraging how much this city (public & private sector) will contribute towards festivals, parties, & all other sorts of revelry. The attitude of hard work & self reliance is the back bone of the argument that "I got mine, they need to get theirs".
I see multi-million dollar condos being erected all across the city while disabled citizens live in 3rd world squalor awaiting death's deliverance.
13. Never underestimate the interest that charm can peak in the person your talking to, just make sure you're well enough versed lasso their attention.
